A review after 3 months of ongoing use

After 3 months of using the Joyoung Y828, I have lots of feedback I would like to share for those considering buying it.
Soy milk - makes up to 1 litre of soy milk conveniently.
Other plant-based milks - makes only up to 650ml, even though the machine has a 900ml option.
In reality, the 900ml plant-based (cold milk production) cycles only draw about 700 ml of water from the reservoir, and after straining, only about 650 ml of milk is left.
An official representative from Joyoung said this is correct. The only way to increase a cold milk production beyond 650 ml is by waiting next to the machine, turning off the machine from the power point in the wall the moment the production stops. Effectively, cancelling the automatic cleaning. Then adding more of your nuts/oats and doing another cycle without cleaning in between the cycles.
It's not a bad option but it requires standing next to the machine and manually cancelling the cleaning a second before it is about to start.

Soups - I only tried one soup, the tomato soup, the recipe is in the recipe booklet that comes with the machine.
It coloured the blender in red, and the blender cup (that has a silicone sealing strip) smelt of garlic for a long time.
Even after using the longer cleaning cycle (20 minutes) 3 times, the next couple of times I made milk - it was pink.
So after this experience I decided not to make any soups in this machine.
I'd rather save my time and only make milk in it.

I decided to only use it for milk from then on so I didn't experiment with making juice or smoothies in it - I don't want to risk having milk with a smell or colour that is unintended.

Cleaning the machine is also more work than you would imagine. The blender cleans itself - but you still need to clean the blender cup (the glass cup on top of the blending part), the milk jug with the lid, and the dirty water container with its lid. This is quite significant so take into consideration. Not to mention you will also have milk jugs in the refrigerator that will need cleaning, of course.

Last but not least, this morning I saw that the plastic on the rim of the (glass) blender cup is broken in two different locations.
This is without any known cause I can think of - and only after a little less than 3 months.

I believe I will receive a new cup as the product is still under warranty - but I'm not sure about the quality of this product if the plastic breaks without any reason after three months.

All in all I am happy with this purchase, which saves a lot of tetrapaks from landfill. And it's easier using this machine than making soy milk without it.

But I am disappointed I can't use all the functions that the machine was bought for.

Absolutely love this machine one of my best investments. Being able to throw in my leftover dinners in a make soup is not only cost effective but nutritional value.

Very functional and convenient. We make hot vege milk almost everyday using this soymilk maker, and it cleanses itself afterwards. Will recommend it to our friends!
